Testimony of Aliza Alicja (Hiter) Gilon, born in Krakow, Poland, 1936, regarding her experiences in the special Bergen-Belsen camp Her family's move to Katowitz for economic reasons, 1937; German occupation, 1939; her father's flight to Uzbekistan and loss of contact with him; deportation of the family to the Krakow Ghetto; receipt of nine forged passports through the consul for Guatemala and Honduras in Switzerland with the help of a Swiss relative; deportation of the family to the Montelupich prison in Krakow in order to verify their identity; transfer to a special camp in Bergen-Belsen; falling sick with measles and chicken pox; deportation of five of her family members, who had passports, to Auschwitz and their murders, late 1943; departure of three trains from Bergen-Belsen; she and her mother were on the second train, 9 April 1945; liberation of the train near Hillersleben by soldiers of the 30th Division of the U.S. Army; Remaining in Hillersleben for several months; transfer arranged by the Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) via Belgium to the French port of Toulon and from there to Eretz Israel on the British warship, "Mataroa", 09 September 1945; absorption.
