Testimony of Moshe Moise Fingerhut, born in Krakow, Poland, 1921, regarding his experiences in Krakow, during his escape to the Soviet Union, and serving in the Red Army in Poland and Germany From a secular family with five children in Krakow; death of his father when the witness was seven; attendance at a Polish vocational school; training as a welder; Hashomer Hazair activities; Outbreak of the war, 1939; receiving information from emissaries from Eretz Israel regarding the need to escape; escape to Lwow with his brother; escape deep into the Soviet Union; conscription of his older brother to the Red Army as a translator; conscription to the Polish Army as part of the Red Army; participation in battles in Kursk, and afterwards in Poland; participation in the liberation of Majdanek; the liberation of Warsaw; fighting in battles in Kolberg and Berlin; revenge against Germans in Majdanek; deportation of his three sisters to Auschwitz; murder of two sisters in Auschwitz and survival of one sister; end of the war, 1945; Return to Lublin; unsuccessful attempt to make illegal aliya to Eretz Israel on the ship, "Exodus", 1947; deportation to the Hamburg displaced persons camp; aliya to Israel, 1948; absorption.
