Life before the war; faint memories of early childhood; father: merchant; war breaks out; parents' home becomes a German headquarters; deportation to the ghetto; escaping to sister's house in a nearby town; escaping to the Włodawa ghetto; child suffocated by parents due to his crying; observing heaps of corpses; finding a hideout in a loft during one of the Aktionen; escaping to the home of a Polish estate owner; grandfather dies; father and brother join partisans in the forest; life in an underground bunker; capture along with brother by Germans while attempting to return to one of the villages; escaping from the Germans and returning to Włodawa; father joins; family escapes into the forests and thence to Grabniak; finds a hideout with the Labrica family, local inhabitants; escapes back to Wlodawa; father murdered; apparently by a gang; moving to Lublin; witness placed in an orphanage in Lodz; life in Pougues-les-Eaux; immigrates to Israel in 1948; adjusts to life in Israel.
