Testimony of Aliza Claude (Zhitlenok) Lahav, born in 1933 in Paris, about her experiences as a girl under a false identity in Paris, Cahors, and Toulouse Offspring of a hard-pressed assimilated family in Paris; war breaks out in September 1939; witness placed in an orphanage out of town; returns to family home several months later, in winter 190; German occupation ensues; family escapes from Paris; escapes back several days later, in summer 1940; father deported to Drancy camp in August 1941; helps sister, who participates in the French Resistance to forward materials in July 1942; escapes with mother after tipped off about deportation; finds a hideout in July 1942; escapes with mother to home of an intermarried family and lives unde a false identity in July 1942; escapes with mother and intermarried family to another house due to danger in October 1942; transferred by sister, Resistance participant, to Cahors in spring 1943; attends convent school there; travels with sister to two vacations in Toulouse; invasion of Normandy; liberation in summer 1944; moves to Paris in November 1944; immigrates to Israel in November 1949; adjusts to life in Israel.
