Testimony of Avraham Sadan Siemiatycki, born in 1928 in Sarnaki, Poland, about his experiences in Siemiatycze, and Siberia One of eight children in the family in Sarnaki; parents: secular Communist craftspeople; severe antisemitic manifestations before the war; witness encounters Jewish refugees from Germany; Communist brother and sister arrested and sent to prison for two years; war breaks out; witness escapes to the Soviet Union; enters Siemiatycze; spends half a year living in a warehouse; deported to Siberia in July 1940; life in a camp designated for Jews only; works as a lumberjack; suffers from illnesses; food shortage; German occupation ensues in 1941; Jews released; witness moves to Nelex; lives in a kolkhoz (Soviet collective farm) until 1946; attends school; back to Poland; active in the Dror-Heluts Hatzair movement; lives in a hakhshara (Zionist training venue) and attends a seminar in Germany; immigrates to Israel by air in 1949; adjusts to life in Israel.
