Testimony of Leizer Finkelstein, born in Iaşi in 1923, regarding his and his family's experiences on the death train from Iaşi to Podu Iloaiei Round-up of Leizer's family (his father, mother, five brothers and three sisters) by the Romanian police and gendarmes on 29 June 1941; release of the women and children; transfer of his father and brothers to the Iaşi Police headquarters (the Jews are beaten by SS soldiers at the gate); transfer to the railway station with three of his brothers, and deportation to Podu Iloaiei in sealed cattle cars on 30 June 1941; description of the conditions in the train; arrival to Podu Iloaiei, and transfer to labor as a carpenter; housing at local Jewish families; news that his father is in another camp; he meets his family in Iaşi six months later and learns that one of his brothers died; transfer to forced labor by the Romanian authorities in 1942.
