Testimony of Laura Chana Keynan née Wallach, born in 1932 in Berlin, about her experiences as a girl in hiding in Berlin Daughter of a non-Jewish father and a Jewish mother in Berlin; father dismissed from work due to refusal divorce his wife in 1936; mother assigned to forced labor repairing and cleaning army uniforms in 1940; witness's studies terminated in 1942; grandmother deported to Theresienstadt and dies a month later; bombardments; finding a hideout at the train station; witness arrested along with mother and sister in 1942; released and finding a hideout in a shop; sleeping under a desk for a year; receiving aid from "Aryan" family members; father deported to a labor camp in Germany in late 1943; witness, mother, and sister live in hiding in a forest resort home owned by an "Aryan" labor forewoman; war ends; back to the family home, which a neighbor has watched over; immigration to Israel in 1949; adjustment to life in Israel.
