Her parents were Herman Weiss, born in Sosnowitz [Poland], and Helen (Blumenfeld) Weiss, born in Będzin [Poland}; her parents emigrated from Poland to Metz, France in the 1920s; her parents were merchants; move to Saint-Mihiel and Troyes, and return to Metz; joining the Eclaireurs Israélites de France (EIF, the Jewish Scouts of France);
