Transport No. 47e left Vienna’s Nordbahnhof (Northern Railway Station) on February 24, 1944 and arrived in Auschwitz-Birkenau on February 25. It consisted of 41 Jews. According to available archival records, the average age of 18 deportees was 43; three of them were over 61. This was the fifth transport from Vienna to the East (Auschwitz) during the years 1943 and 1944 (Osttransporte). Historian Danuta Czech notes in the Auschwitz Chronicle the arrival of an RSHA-transport from Vienna on February 25. Following a selection carried out by the SS men, four Jews were sent to the camp. Subsequently they were given the Nos. 174437- 174440. The remaining 37 Jews were immediately sent to the gas chambers and murdered.
