Transport No. 44, labeled Da230, departed from Aspangbahnhof in Vienna (Wien) on October 5th, 1942, arriving at Maly Trostenets on October 9th. The The transport consisted of 546 Jews, 41 of them were older than 61 years. The average age of the deportees was 42. The train followed a route that passed through Vienna’s Nordbahnhof, Platerow, Czeremcha, Wolkowysk, Baranovichi, Koydanovo (Dzerzhinsk), Minsk and Kolodishchi. Fifteen armed uniformed policemen (Schutzpolizei) under the command of First Lieutenant Johann Peter guarded the Jews throughout the trainride.
According to timetable number 62 - which was distributed on August 15th, 1942 by the Central Railroad Administration to the train stations at Wolkowysk, Baranovichi and the freight train stations at Minsk - train Da 230 arrived on October 7th, at 4:35 PM, at the main train station in Wolkowysk. The Jews were transferred to freight cars; a passenger car was attached for the guards. The train’s engine was replaced and at 9:25 pm, the train left the station, reaching Baranovichi on Tuesday, October 8th, at 4:01 am. The train locomotive was replaced once again. At 7:30 am the train resumed its journey, arriving at 11:42 am in Koydanovo.
On October 9th, at 2:22 am, the train continued on its way from Koydanovo, arriving at the freight train station in Minsk at 3:49 am. In Minsk the train engine was replaced yet again and at 3:49 am the train continued on its way, reaching Kolodishchi at 4:37 am....
