Gestapo-Düsseldorf planned the schedule of this transport on March 17. On that day, Walter Albath, commander of Gestapo-Düsseldorf, determined the number of Jews who would be deported from the various locations in his purview. On April 10, 1942, the Jewish Affairs Department at the RSHA informed the Düsseldorf Jewish Affairs Department of a transport to Trawniki that was scheduled for April 22. The East General Operations Administration of the Reichsbahn (Generalbetriebsleitung Ost) gave the departure time of the train its final approval only on April 18. On April 15, the Jewish Affairs Department in Düsseldorf prepared a workplan for the staff at the collection point for April 21 and 22. The collection point was the Schlachthof (the municipal slaughterhouse), where Jews had been interned in previous transports. On April 17, two days later, the Jewish Affairs Department summoned two bailiffs from the local court and ordered them to report to the Schlachthof on April 21 at 5:00 p.m., explaining that their duties would constitute part of the “transport of 1,000 Jews.” The bailiffs, W. Beckmann and Franz Hiepe, had taken part in two previous transports: to Łódź on October 26, 1941, and to Minsk on November 9, 1941....
