On March 27, 1943 the fifth transport left Thessaloniki. A total of 2,800 Jews were included in the transport. They were deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau where they arrived on April 3, 1943. Among the deportees 334 men were selected to enter the camp and tatooed with the numbers 112307-112640, and 258 women were tatooed with the numbers 39964-40221. The remaining 2,208 Jews were murdered in the gas chambers immediately upon arrival.
