The last of four transports sent from Danzig to Theresienstadt during the years 1942-1944 departed between June 12 and 13, 1944 – but the exact date is unknown. It arrived in Theresienstadt on June 14, 1943. The transport consisted of three people: 72 year-old Arthur Löwy, a furniture trader from Danzig; 53 year-old Therese Kaschel (alt. Kuschel), a housewife from Kölln (Chelmno); and 58 year-old Berta Kuschel (alt. Kaschel) from Danzig. In the notes taken by David Jonas, the chairman of the Jewish Community of Danzig, the three were listed as partners in so-called “mixed marriages”.
Little is known about the transport. Presumably the deportees were arrested some time before the departure. On the day of the transport they were probably taken to the Main Train Station (Danzig Hauptbahnhof) and put into a railway car. Their specific route is unknown. The train eventually arrived at the recently-constructed train station at Theresienstadt.
