This transport with one person aboard arrived in Theresienstadt on April 20, 1944. The deportee was Jakob Reutlinger (b. 2 October 1874 in Karlsruhe). He was taken from his apartment at Amalienstrasse 28 in Karlsruhe to Theresienstadt. This transport is one of two transports of individuals in 1944 about which there is almost no information available besides the names and addresses of the deportees. He was taken straight from his apartment to the local police station, his luggage was searched and his last valuables were confiscated. He had to endure bureaucratic procedures and undergo the final stages of expropriation. His declaration of property was collected and he was informed that because he was “an enemy of the Reich” his assets had been seized....
