He was taken straight from his apartment to the local police station, his luggage was searched and his last valuables were confiscated. He had to endure bureaucratic procedures and undergo the final stages of expropriation. His declaration of property was collected and he was informed that because he was “an enemy of the Reich” his assets had been seized....
