The third transport from Dortmund to Teresinstadt departed on May 17, 1943. There were 36 Jews on this transport; 20 came from Dortmund and the rest - mainly elderly and sick Jews - came from the surrounding areas: Anroechte, Bochum, Borghorst, Brilon, Hagen, Laasphe, Schmallenberg, and Werl.
The last five Jews remaining in Brilon were deported on this transport including Max Willon who was the liaison for the Reich Association of the Jews in Germany and the Gestapo. It was decided that 70- year old Sara Kahlenberg was also finally eligible for deportation as well.
The Jews from the surrounding communities were transported under guard to Dortmund and transferred to an assembly site chosen by the Gestapo: the restaurant Zur Boerse, located at 35 Steinstrasse in the old meat market district close to the train station. The local Jews had also been gathered there....
