Wola Obszańska is a village in the municipal administrative unit (gmina) of Babice (currently gmina Obsza), Biłgoraj County, Lublin District, about 11 kilometers from the town of Tarnogród. In 1921, its population stood at 1,021, including 77 Jews. According to Freda Dymborg (nee Guterman), six Jewish families lived in Wola at the outbreak of World War II. Among them were the Guterman family, the Tenenboim family, Ida (Jidel) Titenfish and Khana Titenfish.
German forces entered the area on September 14, 1939, followed ten days later by the Red Army. On October 5, 1939, the Germans reoccupied the area and subjected the Jews to a regime of violence and hunger. Some Jewish men from the village – Nuta Guterman, his son Froim Guterman, and Jankiel Sztajner – were forced to work in the vicinity of Tarnogród.
