Burzenin is a hamlet located 17 kilometers south of Sieradz. At the outbreak of World War II, Burzenin had 1,408 inhabitants, including some 300 Jews. Local records mention thirty-eight Jewish families living in the village in 1939. According to the Burzenin register book, many of these families lived in the houses around the marketplace.
The German army entered Burzenin on September 4, 1939, changing the place’s name to Seegefeld. According to local historian Jan Milczarek, Amtskommissar Beskof came from Szczecin to oversee the hamlet in 1940. ...
