The transport of able-bodied men to Chełmno for labor prior to the dismantling of the ghettos and the deportation of the Jewish population, seems to have been common practice in the Wartheland.
On Monday, January 5, 1942, the German authorities began preparations of the deportation of 29 Jewish men from Izbica (Mühlental) to Chełmno, some 40 kilometers south, where they would be placed in the camp's Jewish labor squads.
