This was the first such deportation transport to leave Breslau. It departed on November 25, 1941 and presumably arrived in Kaunas three days later. According to historian Alfred Gottwaldt, the transport included 1,005 deportees. All the deportees were under 50 years of age. In some cases, entire families were deported.
Around November 15, some of the families were notified of their upcoming deportation. They were asked to be ready to leave their apartment by the end of the month. They were told they were being sent for resettlement in the East, and received lists of items deemed necessary for their new life: they were asked to wear two sets of clothing and to bring tools, sewing machines and provisions for 8-10 days and as much luggage as they could carry.
In the early morning of November 21, members of the Breslau Gestapo, assisted by uniformed policemen, appeared in the homes of the families to be deported, gave them a short while to pack their belongings, and escorted them by truck to the Schießwerderplatz where an unused concert hall in the vicinity of the Odertor train station served as an assembly site. A local moving company transported the luggage separately to the assembly site....
