Transport from Koenigsberg, Königsberg (Pr.) (Königsberg (Pr.)), East Prussia, Germany to Berlin, Berlin (Berlin), City of Berlin, Germany on 15/03/1943

This transport, which departed from Königsberg on March 15, 1943, is the only one of these transports for which there are concrete testimonies, and was likely larger than other similar transports. It was probably a result of the new regulations published by the RSHA on February 20, 1943, and of the closing of the Reich Association of Jews in Germany in East Prussia, whose senior members were on this transport.
Very little is known about this transport. Nechama Drober, who lived in Königsberg and was protected by her non-Jewish ancestry, tells of Rita Goldschmidt, daughter of a Jewish father and a non-Jewish mother, who was put on this transport with her family two weeks after the death of her mother. Jewish physician Heinrich Wolffheim, an inhabitant of Allenstein (Olstzyn) who was also on this transport, identifies several more people from Allenstein: a certain Mrs. Mandel and a family of four by the name of Ladendorff. He also identified Josua Epstein who worked for the Reich Association of Jews in Germany.
In all likelihood, the deportees were assembled in Königsberg and Allenstein and put into a third-class passenger car attached to a regular train that arrived in Berlin on March 15 or 16, 1943. In Berlin, the deportees were taken to the assembly site at the old age home in Grosse Hamburger Strasse where they were registered, forced to sign a declaration relinquishing their entire property to the State, and were put on transport number I/90 which left for Theresienstadt on March 17, 1943. These East Prussian deportees were listed under the identification numbers 12148-12171.
