Before boarding the Struma, Benzion and Sarah Zeitz sent a container to their relatives in the Land of Israel, containing belongings, photographs and a diary written by their 16 year-old daughter Riva.
On November 20, 1941, Riva had written in her diary: “Is there anyone listening? There are some who listen but are not affected by what they hear, others don’t want to listen or are unable to, and there are those who can do nothing. All we can do is pray…”
The whole family perished in the sinking of the Struma.
